In the middle of July the weather should be warm but not hot, and
there is little chance of rain. As it is also the season in which
Tokachi has about 15 hours of daylight, starting at 0400hrs, it is
one of the best seasons to run an outdoor event.

The itinerary covers familiar ground in the Tokachi sub-prefecture
with use of the Rikubetsu Remote Service on Day 1. Like last year,
the Rally HQ and Media Centre are located in Hotel Grand Vrio in
Makubetsu town. Kita-Aikoku Service Park located next to OBIHIRO SS
is again going to be the main service park. It was used as the main
Service Park of WRC Rally Japan until 2007 and has a gravel/asphalt
mixed surface.

As the first ever FIA titled international rally event in Japan, Asia
Pacific Rally Championship Rally Hokkaido took place in 2002. In 2003
it became the candidate round of the World Rally Championship. In 2004
it was run in conjunction with Rally Japan. However, the two events
have been run separately since 2005. With no WRC Rally Japan this year,
Rally Hokkaido is the only international rally event taking place in Japan.
